HP Interactive Trampoline Game

In collaboration with Konventus Creative Event Company and Bi’şeyler New Media Agency, I developed an interactive side-scroller game for Hewlett Packard (HP) as part of their branded experience at One Love Festival, one of Turkey’s longest-running music festivals with an international lineup.

At the center of the installation was a 2 × 3 meter trampoline, which served as a full-body game controller. Using custom computer vision and motion-tracking, each jump and movement on the trampoline directly controlled the on-screen character. The game—displayed on a 10 × 5 meter LED screen—challenged players to navigate a vibrant world and collect cartridges in a fast-paced, arcade-style environment.

The project transformed a physical activity into an intuitive gameplay interface, creating an experience that was energetic, social, and highly visible within the festival environment. The fusion of large-scale display, real-time tracking, and physical interaction made the installation one of the standout activations in the HP area.

Concept

The goal was to create a game that was immediately engaging for festival-goers and required no onboarding. The trampoline mechanic offered a natural form of interaction—jumping, leaning, and shifting weight translated into directional movement and actions on screen. This simple but dynamic control scheme encouraged playfulness, competition, and repeat participation.

Technical Details

The system combined real-time computer vision with a custom Unity-based game engine. A top-mounted camera tracked player movement across the trampoline surface, converting positional and vertical motion into responsive game inputs.
Additional work included:

  • fine-tuning motion thresholds and latency for a smooth gameplay feel

  • designing a physics-based side-scroller environment suited to trampoline input

  • integrating the system with the large-scale LED wall and festival AV

  • optimizing visual feedback for outdoor daytime and nighttime conditions

The result was a physically driven game system robust enough for continuous use over the festival’s duration.
